We visited the sanctuary in October, hoping to attend their Halloween event. Although the event was canceled due to heavy rain, the wonderful staff still made it special for the kids. They handed out trail hunts to complete, which the kids turned in for a treat. A total win, even without the spooky extras!

Things to Do at the Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary
The moment we arrived, we were greeted with rows of friendly donkeys poking their heads over fences, eager to say hello. Each pen has signs introducing the donkeys by name along with a bit of their backstory, which makes walking around feel like meeting a group of new fuzzy friends.
We especially loved matching donkey names to family members. It added a fun, personal touch to the experience! We found quite a few familiar names!
Because of the rainy weather, some of the outdoor trails were closed, but the sanctuary staff brought many of the donkeys into the barns so guests can still visit up close. Rain or shine, there’s plenty to enjoy. We spent about 2 hours here, but easily could have spent the entire day here!
