Our Family Stay at EuroHotel Diagonal Port
We stayed here during the summer and were so glad we chose this spot. Our priorities were simple: a beachfront hotel in Barcelona that was affordable, close to restaurants and public transport, and family-friendly. EuroHotel Diagonal Port absolutely delivered.
This place is literally just across the street from Mar Bella Beach—one of Barcelona’s cleaner and quieter stretches of sand. There are several seaside cafes, making beach days feel like a true vacation. PobleNou is filled with tapas bars, local cafes, grocery stores, pharmacies, and small shops—all within easy walking distance.
Outside the hotel, you’ll find a taxi stand and a bus stop, giving you easy access to the rest of the city. Poblenou Metro Station is also just a 10-minute walk away, connecting you to central Barcelona and beyond.
First Impressions & Lobby Amenities
While the exterior of the building is plain, don’t let that fool you. Inside, the lobby is sleek and modern, with cozy lounge seating, a stylish bar, and a peaceful zen garden. There’s also a large outdoor patio with umbrellas and cushioned seats—perfect for a morning coffee or evening wine.
Staff at the front desk were incredibly friendly and accommodating. They helped us arrange rooms close together for our family and made check-in a breeze.

Rooms & Comfort
We found the rooms to be clean, spacious, and well-equipped:
- Comfortable beds with crisp linens
- A large built-in for suitcase storage
- Bright bathroom with excellent water pressure
- A clothesline in the shower—super handy for beachwear
- Mini fridge, safe, and free Wi-Fi included
Although basic, the rooms offer everything you need for a relaxing stay and plenty of space for families.

Rooftop Pool & Terrace – A Hidden Gem
The rooftop terrace was by far our favorite part of the hotel. With stunning views of the Barcelona coastline, it offers a relaxing space to unwind after a day of exploring. The pool provides a scenic view, and there’s ample seating, towels provided, toilets, and a bar.
✅ Tip: The drinks are strong but pricier than in local cafes. We did encounter one less-than-friendly bartender who served weaker drinks, but that was the only blip in an otherwise fantastic stay.

Dining & Food Options
The hotel breakfast buffet is served in the lobby area (at an additional fee) and includes:
- Fresh fruit and juices
- Breads and pastries
- Eggs, meats, and cheeses
- Cereals, yogurt, and coffee
It’s not extravagant, but it’s fresh, filling, and convenient before a day of sightseeing.
For other meals, you’re just steps away from dozens of local restaurants, including family-run tapas bars and beachside eateries. Don’t miss nearby favorites like:
- Mensanna– A trendy brunch spot
- La Cuineta d’en Pep– Great for tapas and Spanish wine
- Tango Grill Steakhouse– Upscale dining in a laid-back setting

Beach Access & Local Vibes
Being right across from Mar Bella Beach is a game-changer, especially with kids. The beach is sandy, spacious, and generally less crowded than Barceloneta. There are beach showers, volleyball courts, and several beach bars (chiringuitos) nearby.
The PobleNou area is a mix of modern innovation and industrial history. Once a hub for factories, it’s now an up-and-coming neighborhood full of tech companies, art studios, and indie boutiques. It feels more authentic and local than some of the more touristy areas.

Best Time to Visit
Barcelona is beautiful year-round, but for beach time, May through September is ideal. July and August are peak season, so book early if you’re planning a summer trip. The rooftop pool is open during warmer months.
Family Friendliness
We traveled as a family and felt very comfortable here. The staff was welcoming to our child, and the nearby beach, parks, and dining options made it easy to enjoy the city without stress.
Rooms are spacious enough for cribs or an extra bed, and the hotel lobby and patio give kids room to roam without feeling restricted.

Booking & Value
We booked directly through a third-party hotel site and found the price to be one of the best value options in Barcelona near the beach. Prices fluctuate depending on season, but if you’re looking for a Barcelona beach hotel on a budget, this is one to bookmark. You can book this hotel here at Booking.com
Final Thoughts
EuroHotel Diagonal Port surprised us in the best way. With its unbeatable beach location, friendly staff, rooftop views, and budget-friendly pricing, it’s the kind of place you want to return to. It’s not luxury, but for families or travelers wanting value with comfort and accessibility, it hits the sweet spot.
We’d absolutely stay here again on our next Barcelona adventure!
