Why We Chose Edelweiss Air for Our Trip to Montenegro
As a family of three traveling through Europe with our toddler, finding the right flight from Valencia, Spain to Kotor, Montenegro wasn’t easy. We needed something affordable, efficient, and family-friendly. After tons of research, we ended up booking through Swiss Air, which included a flight with their leisure airline partner, Edelweiss Air—and we’re so glad we did!
Curious about Valencia? Here’s everything we wish we knew before we went.
Our itinerary had us flying from Valencia to Zurich on Swiss Air (flight LX2143), and then connecting from Zurich to Tivat, Montenegro on Edelweiss Air (flight LX8414). While both airlines offered great service, Edelweiss really stood out—especially for families.

This flight saved us some extra money because we had an overnight layover in Zurich. We are always ok with long layovers as it gives us a chance to explore a new city. We have never been to Zurich before and were excited to check it out! Even with the cost of the hotel, the total amount was still far cheaper than flying from one state to another in the US!

What Makes Edelweiss Air Great for Families
From the moment we stepped up to check in, everything was smooth and stress-free. Staff were genuinely kind, both at the gate and onboard. Boarding was easy, and we were warmly welcomed aboard.
Shortly after takeoff, the crew surprised our daughter with a drawstring backpack filled with goodies—an activity book, colored pencils, and a game. It completely made her day! On a flight this short, we weren’t expecting much in terms of service, but we were offered free drinks, chocolate chip buns, and of course—Swiss chocolate. Yes, please!
The best part? The crew spoke directly to our daughter. They got down on her level, made her feel included, and even gave her a confidence boost just by asking what she wanted to drink. It was a small thing—but it meant a lot.
