Ahoj from Prague, Czech Republic!
We drove a little over two hours from Poland, and easily crossed the border into the Czech Republic. Again, not a soul spotted at the border crossing. We drove a bit through the countryside, and it wasn’t long before we spotted the Prague Castle in the distance. This place is beautiful and charming. Almost like a fairy tale. Crossing over the Vltava river into Prague, Czech Republic we were met with spellbinding buildings and bridges made with such intricate detail. We drove past the Prague Astronomical Clock which is so baffling to me. How did people from so long ago know and understand how to make these things?! They are stunning to look at, and I could have sat there all day and stared at them.
Let’s Eat
Naturally, we were here to get a bite to eat and head out. I must eat in every country I enter! We headed into the heart of Prague with no exact destination in mind. We wanted to stop somewhere with good views and good food. The roads through town were quite narrow and all cobblestone. It was a busy day! There was little to no parking, people everywhere. There was some sort of demonstration or protest going on that day.
We found a place to park and decided we would walk until we found food. It wasn’t long until we came across a pizza place with outdoor seating. Right on the corner of a busy street with direct views of the Saint Nicholas Church, it was here that we had the best pizza of our lives. It was called “Patata Bramborova”, and it was a potato pizza with a creme fraiche base, thin sliced potatoes, spicy salami, and topped with creamy mozzarella and bleu cheese. We asked our server for the best pizza they had to offer, and boy did they deliver. I am a huge marinara based pizza lover, and usually steer clear of the “white base”, but this, this pizza, changed my life forever. Everything was perfectly proportioned, and the potatoes were so thin and crispy. I’m still drooling.
Again, I wish we had more time here. We will definitely be back! The charm of this town totally surprised me.
We are driving about 4 hours back to Munich, Germany where we will be catching our first ever overnight train!
Find out which country we’re off to next!..
