Our Experience: Prague Christmas Market

*2025 Edition*

What Prague Christmas Market is Really Like

The most beautiful Christmas Market of them all! We visited 12 different markets this year, and this was the most visually stunning one..in our opinion. The Christmas tree was the star of the show and perfectly placed in front of the most magnificent buildings.

Welcome to Prague Christmas Market

One of the most stunning cities in the world. If you’re into dark gothic architecture, delicious and comforting food, and great beers..well then you’ve come to the right place. Top it all off with some twinkling lights and festive music, and you have yourself a great time.

A Taste of Prauge

The aroma of this market is what has stuck with me the most. Every food stall was steaming with some wonderful, comforting, smoky smell. I must have looked like some sort of animal walking around sniffing the air!

We tried potato dumplings cooked with sauerkraut and topped with cheese and bacon, also known as Haluski. The tang from the sauerkraut perfectly cuts through the richness of the cheese and dumplings.

Then we ordered a Czech version of grilled cheese. It was served with cherry jam or garlic spread. The cheese was like nothing we’ve ever had before. So flavorful and delicious and great with both spreads!

Chimney cakes, or Trdelník, are very popular here. You will find stalls and permanent shops that sell them, with options for traditional chimney cakes, and others filled with ice cream and various fillings.

Have Fun at Prague Christmas Market

One of our families favorite experiences here was watching the children’s choir. My daughter loves watching people sing, especially kids, and we watched the whole performance, 2 days in a row!  You will find the stage at the Old Town Square. Performances like dances, music, choirs, and folk groups dressed in traditional costumes perform daily between 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm.

Until Next Time

There will definitely be a next time. This is our second time visiting Prague, and each time it has gotten better. Visiting during the holiday season has made this city so much more special to us. We got to see a different side of the city and the people. The best part about visiting during the Christmas Market was being able to try all of the local food. I remember seeing some of these items on menus the first time we came, but didn’t try them because I was unsure what they were. Now I know, and can’t wait to come back and try more food!
