Messina, Sicily, Italy
We were visiting Messina via a cruise and knew before we got here that we needed to find the best pizza ever. Pizza in Sicily, Italy?! Of course! After reading so many reviews, where almost every restaurant in the area gets a little bit of good and bad ratings, we decided on eating at La Casa della Pizza because it was close to where our boat was docked and it got pretty decent reviews.
I was a little skeptical at first. Walking in it seemed more like a fast food place. Pre made food in the displays and a pretty extensive picture menu.
I figured most of these places would be over priced tourist traps, with mediocre food…
But here is where I had the best pizza(s) of my life!
We ordered the diavolo, the potato, the bresaola, and calzone. Every single one was out of this world. To date, I have not had a better pizza.
Myself and my husband love a good potato pizza. It is not something our families would have ordered if we were not there. It ended up being the favorite of the table!
The potato and the diavolo pizzas were absolutely amazing. If I ever get the chance to come back to Messina, this is where I will be eating. Everyday.
They also offered a Messina beer, which I gravitated to because of the bottle. So Italian.
The restaurant was the perfect place to escape the heat, enjoy some delicious food, and great distance to the port. I so can’t wait to come back.
