Gava Mar, Spain – Review

What Gava Mar, Spain is Really Like

We visited Gava Mar in summer of 2018. This cheap beach town lies along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea and is home to a beautiful, clean, and soft sandy beach. There are gentle, rolling waves, and the water temperature was perfect. It was cool and refreshing, but not too cold where you didn’t want to go all the way in. It is a topless beach, as most European beaches are. There are a few restaurants and public amenities dotted along the coast line. We will definitely come back here when visiting the Barcelona area!

This was a nice way to escape from the crowded city center of Barcelona. There were cute cafes and shops along the boardwalk and we really enjoyed this cute downtown area.

How to Get There

With it being around 9 miles away, there are plenty of ways to get here. A bus from Barcelona will take about 25 minutes and cost $1 – $3. Super cheap and so worth it. You can also take a cab or ride share (Uber is available here), or the train. The train is about a 20 minute ride and will cost around $2 -$4. Any way you prefer to travel here is relatively cheap and easy. The ride there is also beautiful!

Why Visit?

You can’t come to Spain and not check out the beaches! There are plenty of beaches in Barcelona, but they are also packed full of people. If you are looking for a quieter escape, and somewhere to stay that is almost half the price of the stays in Barcelona, well then this is the place for you! Our family loves a good beach, but what we love even more is a budget friendly beach! The restaurants in town are cheap and delicious. We would gladly stay in Gava, and pay the cheap fares to travel into Barcelona during the day.

After exploring Barcelona all day, it is great to go back to this little beach town and have some peace and quiet!

Platja de Gava in the summer is highly recommended. This link will take you to our trusted partners at TripAdvisor where you can start planning your trip!
