All About Bludenz Christmas Market

The Bludenz Christmas Market, known as the Bludenzer Christkindlemarkt, is held in the beautiful Mühlgasse area of Bludenz, Austria. This event becomes a vibrant and festive meeting place during the Advent season, offering various Christmas gifts and local food.

Known for its scenic streets and mountain views, Bludenz has a history dating back to the Bronze Age, with mentions as early as 830 AD. Visiting this market is like stepping back in time, surrounded by the charm of Austria’s alpine culture.

Must-Try Eats at Bludenz Christmas Market

This market may be small, but it still packs a punch when it comes to classic Christmas treats. Warm yourself with a steaming mug of Gluhwein or munch on sweet, freshly roasted nuts

The standout here is the raclette cheese. Perfectly warmed over toasted bread with toppings available such as walnuts, fried onions, and different seasonings. I opted for the walnuts and it paired perfectly with the strong cheese.

There are plenty of restaurants in town and an easy walk from the market. Most of the restaurants were busy or booked for the night, so make plans beforehand!

What to See

The stalls and beautifully decorated Christmas trees are all you really need to see here. The original ornaments that decorated the stalls were a cute touch. They had the name of the market and the year burned onto them. It was creative and the first time I have seen that!

There were no kids’ areas or carousels, but our daughter didn’t miss it. The twinkling lights and cute buildings decorated for the season is enough to keep your child entertained.

Where to Park for Bludenz Christmas Market

We found a small parking lot, a 3 minute walk, that was free during the hours we were there. Unfortunately we did not see the name of the lot. There is another parking lot called Parkplatz Färberstraße that had spots available, along with a few other parking garages in the area.

Is Bludenz Christmas Market Worth Visiting?

If you happen to be a short distance from this market, then yes, you should check it out! It was small, but super cute, and took us under an hour to explore. It was nice to be able to explore without feeling rushed or constantly being bumped into.

Bludenz itself is the real gem. The colorful buildings, cobblestone streets, twinkling lights, and mountain views makes it feel like you’re in a real life fairytale.
